Taplio and AuthoredUp both help you post better on LinkedIn, but they are built for different people. AuthoredUp is a writing and analytics tool for people who write their own posts: it costs $19.95 a month, runs as a Chrome extension inside LinkedIn and does no automation. Taplio is a growth platform: an AI writer, an engagement feed and lead tools, from $39 a month, with the AI starting at $69. If you write every word yourself, AuthoredUp is the better buy. If you want AI drafts and a pipeline from your content, Taplio is.

Price: AuthoredUp costs about a third as much

For one person, AuthoredUp's Individual plan is $19.95 a month, or $199.50 a year, which works out to $16.63 a month. Taplio's cheapest plan, Starter, is $39 a month or $32 billed yearly, and it has no AI credits. To use Taplio's AI writer you need Growth at $69 a month ($49 yearly), more than three times AuthoredUp's price.
For teams the gap narrows a little. AuthoredUp's Business plan starts at three profiles and costs $14.95 per profile a month. Taplio sells multi-account access through a team offer that saves up to 30%. Our Taplio pricing guide breaks down each Taplio tier.
Writing posts: formatting tool vs AI writer
This is the real difference between the two. AuthoredUp helps you write better yourself. Its editor adds formatting, shows how the post will look on desktop and mobile, in light and dark mode and at the "see more" cut-off, and scores readability. It includes a library of 300+ hooks and post endings and 150+ calls to action, plus unlimited drafts and saved snippets.
Taplio writes for you. On Growth, 250 AI credits a month power a post generator trained on more than 5 million LinkedIn posts, plus carousels, images and suggested replies. Reviewers like the speed but say drafts often need editing to sound personal. If you enjoy writing and want polish, AuthoredUp fits. If writing is the bottleneck, Taplio removes it.

Scheduling and analytics: closer than you think
Both tools schedule posts. AuthoredUp adds a calendar, reminders and a heatmap of the best time to post, built from your own history. It imports your full posting history, tracks saves, sends, reach and followers gained, and exports to CSV. Taplio's analytics are strong too and come on every plan, including Starter, alongside the viral-post library for research. Some older comparisons claim AuthoredUp cannot schedule; that is out of date, as scheduling is listed on its current pricing page.
Engagement, leads and account safety
Here the tools go in opposite directions. Taplio's Growth plan adds auto-replies to comments and contact lists, and Pro adds a lead database, automated DMs and bulk connection requests. AuthoredUp advertises "no automation, no cookies" and does none of this.
That matters because LinkedIn's terms prohibit automated activity. Scheduling and AI writing are low risk on either tool, but Taplio's outreach automation can lead to account restrictions if overused. If your LinkedIn profile is your main sales asset and you cannot risk it, AuthoredUp's approach is safer. If you want those features, use them sparingly; we cover the trade-off in Is Taplio worth it?
Which one should you choose?

- Choose AuthoredUp if you write your own posts, want formatting and analytics, care about account safety, or manage several profiles on a budget.
- Choose Taplio if you want AI to draft posts, need ideas from a large post library, or want to turn engagement into leads and are willing to pay $49 to $69 a month for it.
- Using both is uncommon but works: Taplio for drafting and research, AuthoredUp for final formatting. For most people that is more than they need.
To test Taplio's AI writer properly, start the 7-day Taplio trial, which unlocks every Pro feature. Current Taplio offers, including yearly savings, are on our Taplio deals page.
Taplio vs AuthoredUp FAQ
