Kleo and Shield Analytics Reviewed (2026): What Changed

A research-based status check of Kleo and Shield Analytics, made October 25, 2026. Kleo's free in-feed extension has become Kleo 3.0, a $99-a-month or $999-a-year writing app with no trial, while the original extension still sits in the Chrome Web Store unchanged since June 2025. Every Shield address checked returned an error and its store listing shows no product, so the page sets out what could and could not be verified, what competitors report, and how to keep your LinkedIn history using LinkedIn's own exports.

Kleo and Shield Analytics Reviewed (2026): What Changed

Status checked October 25, 2026 · Research-based review from Kleo's own site, both Chrome Web Store listings, LinkedIn Help and direct checks of Shield's web addresses, not hands-on testing

Saazora has no affiliate deal with Kleo, Shield or any other tool on this page, so none of the links here earn us anything.

Kleo on LinkedIn is no longer the free in-feed extension most reviews describe, and Shield Analytics could not be reached at all when we checked. On October 25, 2026, Kleo sells one paid product, Kleo 3.0, at $99 a month or $999 a year with no free trial, while its original extension is still listed in the Chrome Web Store, unchanged since June 2025. Every Shield address we requested returned an error page, and its Chrome Web Store page no longer shows a product. So this is less a feature review than a status check: what each tool is today, what you can still verify, and what to do if you relied on either one.

Both tools sit in the same family as the rest of Saazora's LinkedIn coverage. For the full set of guides, start at Saazora's LinkedIn tools hub; for month-by-month prices of Kleo and the other writing tools, see the LinkedIn tool pricing tracker.

Kleo then and now: one name, two different products

Most of what ranks for "Kleo" still describes the old extension: a free add-on that showed top creators' best posts inside the LinkedIn feed. Kleo's own FAQ now explains the change in a sentence. The original extension "was a free Chrome add-on" focused on "content discovery and inspiration rather than the full content workflow." The new one "is included in your subscription and is built for saving inspiration, not browsing it."

That shift moves the work out of LinkedIn. Today you write in Kleo's web app and the extension only clips posts, pages and articles from around the web into a swipe file. Kleo's site lists the rest of the package: unlimited post generation, a knowledge base, a writing style and an identity that it keeps in memory, 20 generated graphics a month, preview and editing, and scheduling that is "currently only set up for LinkedIn." Two limits matter for buyers. There is no multi-profile support yet ("coming soon"), so ghostwriters and agencies cannot manage several clients in one account. And other languages work only in post generation, "not inside the Kleo platform itself."

What the two Chrome Web Store listings show

The Chrome Web Store is where the gap between old and new Kleo is easiest to see, because both extensions are still there under the same developer, Jake Ward.

Listing (checked October 25, 2026)UsersRatingVersionLast updatedDescription shown
Kleo (original extension)30,0004.5 from 70 ratings0.265.0June 23, 2025"Kleo 2.0 is coming. Go to Kleo.so for more information."
Kleo Assistant (current extension)1,0005.0 from 1 rating0.7.1October 19, 2026Save inspiration to a swipe file and pages to a knowledge base, then write

Three things follow from those listings. First, the original extension can still be added to Chrome, but its page has not changed in 16 months and still announces version 2.0 while the website sells 3.0, so it is not where Kleo's development is happening. We did not install it, so we cannot say what it still does inside LinkedIn today. Second, the user count tells a story on its own: Kleo's founder writes on the homepage that the extension "organically grew to over 70,000 users," while the listing showed 30,000 when we checked. Third, the new extension has a small installed base so far, with one rating, which means there is very little public feedback on the current product.

Why the original stopped being updated is not explained on Kleo's site. A competitor's review (MagicPost, which sells its own LinkedIn writer) says LinkedIn forced the free extension to shut down on June 20, 2025. That lines up with the June 23, 2025 update date on the listing, but it is a third-party account, not Kleo's own statement, and we could not confirm it from a primary source.

Timeline of Kleo's Chrome extensions: original Kleo extension last updated June 23, 2025 with 30,000 users, Kleo 3.0 web app at $99 a month, Kleo Assistant extension updated October 19, 2026 with 1,000 users
Kleo's two extensions and the paid app, from the Chrome Web Store listings and kleo.so, read October 25, 2026. The June 20, 2025 date is a third-party report.

Is Kleo 3.0 worth $999 a year?

Kleo is now the most expensive way into a LinkedIn writing tool among the ones Saazora tracks, and, unlike the three tools below, it has no trial. The annual bundle saves $189 against twelve monthly payments ($999 instead of $1,188, about 16%), which works out to $83.25 a month. The monthly plan can be cancelled anytime, and Kleo says the subscription "will remain active until the end of your billing period"; the 30-day risk-free guarantee is listed only with the annual bundle.

First year, one person (list prices checked October 25, 2026)CostCan you try it first?Kleo annual costs
Kleo, 12 monthly payments$1,188No trial; cancel anytime—
Kleo, annual bundle$999No trial; 30-day risk-free guarantee—
Taplio Starter, yearly$3847-day trial, 30-day money-back guarantee2.6×
Supergrow Pro, yearly ($31 × 12)$3727-day trial2.7×
AuthoredUp Individual, yearly$199.50Free trial, no card required5.0×

The comparison is not like for like, and that is the point of the table. Taplio, Supergrow and AuthoredUp sell software. Kleo's $999 also buys weekly live group coaching, a private creator community, a 1:1 onboarding call on the annual bundle, and libraries of hooks, templates and example posts. If you would pay for a creator course or community anyway, Kleo's price reads differently. If you only want a writer and a scheduler, you are paying for parts you will not use. Saazora's comparison of AI LinkedIn post generators ranks Kleo's drafting against the others on published criteria; this page does not repeat that scoring.

Bar chart of first-year cost for one person: Kleo $1,188 monthly or $999 annual, Taplio Starter $384, Supergrow Pro $372, AuthoredUp $199.50, with trial terms

Who Kleo 3.0 fits, and who should look elsewhere

  • Fits: a new creator who wants structure (templates, a posting plan, weekly coaching calls) as much as a drafting tool, posts only on LinkedIn, and is happy to commit to a year to get the guarantee.
  • Fits: someone who collects ideas across the web and wants them in one swipe file that feeds drafts, which is what the new extension is built for.
  • Look elsewhere: anyone who wants the old free in-feed experience back. Kleo itself no longer sells it.
  • Look elsewhere: ghostwriters and agencies, until multi-profile support ships.
  • Look elsewhere: people who need analytics. Kleo's site lists writing, graphics and scheduling, not post performance tracking.
  • Look elsewhere: anyone who needs to see the product before paying, or who wants to pay monthly and still have a refund window.

On account safety, Kleo states that it "does not automate posting or perform any actions on your LinkedIn account." Its site does not say whether its LinkedIn scheduling runs through LinkedIn's official API, so if that matters to you, ask Kleo before you buy.

Shield Analytics review: what could and could not be checked

A normal Shield review would cover its dashboards, its history import and its price. None of that could be verified this time, so here is exactly what was checked and what came back.

"DEPLOYMENT_DISABLED" is the message a hosting platform shows when a site's deployment has been switched off; it says nothing about Shield's plans, only that the site is not being served. A copy in the Internet Archive exists, but it could not be opened from our research setup, so it is not used here.

Other LinkedIn tool vendors have written about Shield's status, and all of them say it is winding down. Keep in mind that every one of them sells a Shield replacement:

  • Taplio (July 16, 2026) says Shield "launched in 2018 and is winding down after seven years" and is "no longer onboarding new users."
  • AuthoredUp says accounts stay open "for 30 days from the wind-down notice" and that "no official end date is public yet."
  • Postiv says it read a notice at shieldapp.ai/wind-down on June 16, 2026, found "no published cutoff date for data access," and saw an error instead of the page on October 1, 2026.

Two of these pages quote the founders' reason in slightly different words: Google and LinkedIn made it clear that Shield could not keep operating as it was built, and the team decided not to fight it. Because we could not read Shield's own notice, treat the reason, the dates and the 30-day window as reported, not confirmed. What we can say from our own checks is narrower and firmer: on October 20, 2026 Shield's pricing page returned an error, and on October 25 its website, pricing page, log-in address and help center did not load and its Chrome Web Store page showed no product. Do not pay for a Shield renewal, and do not count on getting data out of it.

If your LinkedIn history lived in Shield

The value of a tool like Shield was the history it kept. If that is gone, LinkedIn itself still holds part of it, but on a clock. LinkedIn Help lists how long it keeps each kind of post analytics:

What LinkedIn keeps (per LinkedIn Help, October 25, 2026)How longWhat it means if you leave it
Discovery and engagement counts (impressions, reactions, comments) for most posts1,000 daysRoughly 2 years 9 months of post totals still on LinkedIn
Members reached400 daysReach for posts older than about 13 months is gone
Demographic breakdowns of viewers180 daysWho saw a post disappears after about 6 months
Video performance and viewer demographics180 daysSame six-month window as demographics
Articles and newsletter analyticsTwo yearsLong-form numbers last longer than posts

A practical rescue in three steps, all inside LinkedIn's own tools:

  1. Export what Analytics shows now. Download your content analytics for the widest range LinkedIn allows, and if you run a company Page, export its Content, Visitors, Followers and Competitors tabs, which LinkedIn offers as XLS files.
  2. Request your LinkedIn data archive. Under Settings & Privacy, Data privacy, Download your data. A specific category arrives "within minutes," the full archive within 24 hours, and the download link works for 72 hours, so save it the same day. The archive's Shares file lists your posts with their date, URL and the text you shared, which gives you a post list to match against any numbers you saved. It is not available on mobile.
  3. Repeat before the shortest window closes. Demographics and video data last 180 days, so a quarterly export keeps them.

If you want a new tool to take over, Saazora's LinkedIn analytics tools comparison sets these same retention windows against how much past data each tool can load on the day you connect, from none on Taplio to "years" on AuthoredUp, with yearly costs for one profile, a profile plus a Page, and five people. That page also covers what LinkedIn's native analytics show, so it is not repeated here.

Chart of how long LinkedIn keeps post analytics: 1,000 days for engagement counts, 730 days for articles, 400 days for members reached, 180 days for demographics and video, plus the 72-hour data archive download window

What both stories have in common: extensions inside LinkedIn

Kleo's old extension worked "right inside LinkedIn's interface," and Shield, by competitors' accounts, gathered its data through a Chrome extension. Neither is available in that form today. LinkedIn's help page on prohibited software says it does not permit "browser extensions that scrape, modify the appearance of, or automate activity on LinkedIn's website," and warns that such tools "may become non-operational without notice." Whether either tool broke that rule is not something we can judge from public pages, and neither company has said so in a source we could read. The lesson for buyers is simpler: a tool whose core feature depends on running inside LinkedIn's pages can disappear overnight, with your data in it.

Kleo 3.0 moved its writing into its own app and its extension to the open web, which avoids that dependency for the parts it sells. If you are choosing a replacement for either tool, ask two questions of any vendor: does it read your data through LinkedIn's official access or through your browser session, and can you export everything it stores? For a tool that combines writing, scheduling and analytics, the Taplio review covers its analytics; for a writer-first alternative with long post history, see the AuthoredUp review; and for a team that wants weekly reports, the Supergrow review.

Questions about Kleo and Shield

Is Kleo still free?

No. Kleo's own site sells one product, Kleo 3.0, at $99 a month or $999 a year, with no free plan and no trial. The original free extension is still listed in the Chrome Web Store but has not been updated since June 23, 2025, and Kleo's site describes it in the past tense.

Does Kleo still work inside the LinkedIn feed?

The current product does not try to. Kleo Assistant saves inspiration from anywhere on the web into a swipe file, and drafting happens in Kleo's web app. We did not install the old extension, so we cannot say what, if anything, it still shows inside LinkedIn.

Is Shield Analytics shutting down?

Several competing vendors report that Shield is winding down, and Shield's pricing page returned an error on October 20, 2026, and its site, log-in and help center did not load on October 25. We could not read a statement from Shield itself, so the dates and reasons in those reports are unconfirmed.

Can I still export my data from Shield?

Not from what we could see: the log-in address returned a 404 error on October 25, 2026. Use LinkedIn's own analytics export and data archive instead, and do it before LinkedIn's 180-day window closes on demographics and video.

How this review was researched

This Kleo LinkedIn and Shield Analytics review is based on published information, checked on October 25, 2026. We read Kleo's homepage FAQ and pricing page (kleo.so, which now redirects to wf.kleo.so), the Chrome Web Store listings for both Kleo extensions, the pricing pages of Taplio, Supergrow and AuthoredUp, and four LinkedIn Help articles (post analytics, Page analytics export, downloading your data, prohibited software). For Shield we requested its home, pricing, wind-down, log-in and help-center addresses and its Chrome Web Store listing on October 25, and compared them with Saazora's earlier check on October 20, 2026. Reports from Taplio, AuthoredUp, Postiv and MagicPost are cited as third-party accounts from competing vendors. Copies of every page are kept on file, and yearly totals are our arithmetic on list prices before tax. We had no Kleo or Shield account, did not run either tool for this article, and neither company reviewed it. More on how Saazora researches software.
